Overall Score
2022

Indonesia scores higher than the average score of countries in its region, but below countries in its income group, the global average, and top performers. It would benefit from some improvements to its cigarette tax system.

Component Score
2022

Indonesia scores poorly in affordability change and tax structure, and in the mid-range in cigarette price and tax share. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, improving the tax structure, higher cigarette prices, and increasing the tax share of price.

Scores Over Time

Indonesia's overall score increased from 2014 to 2020, and then it decreased in 2022 due to a significant reduction in the affordability change score. There was an increase in the tax share score from 2018 to 2022.
