The Economics of Addiction (Presentation)
This presentation was given by Frank Chaloupka at the Annual Meetings of the Pakistan Society of Development Economists in Islamabad, Pakistan, on December 13, 2018. During the presentation, the various economic models of demand for addictive products (i.e. Standard Demand and Myopic Addiction Models), global impact of taxes and prices on demand for addictive/unhealthy products (i.e. alcohol, sugar-sweetened beverages, unhealthy foods), myths and facts on the economic costs of tobacco control, and ongoing activities were discussed.
