Impact of Sugary Beverage Taxes (Presentation)

Chaloupka as testimony at the Sugary Beverage Tax Public Hearing of the Standing Committee on Finance and Portfolio Committee on Health in Cape Town, South Africa, on January 31, 2017. The presentation provides an overview of Mexico’s experience with their sugary beverage tax, general arguments about the employment impacts of sin taxes, and empirical evidence on the employment impact of sugary beverage taxes in Mexico and the U.S. as well as tobacco taxes in South Africa.
