IEPS Update on Tobacco: Impacts on Consumption and Tax Collection in Mexico
This Policy Brief was produced by Centro de Investigación Económica y Presupuestaria A.C. (CIEP) in Mexico. The Policy Brief examines the update to the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) that increased the tax on tobacco products in Mexico. The Policy Brief concludes that higher taxes on tobacco products would lead to reduced tobacco consumption and recommends higher increases in the IEPS.
