Panama scores well in cigarette price but scores poorly in affordability change, tax share, and tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Panama's overall score increased in 2022 after remaining constant between 2014 and 2020. The increase was due to an increase in the affordability change score and the cigarette price score.
