Oman scores higher than the average score of countries in its region and the global average, but below countries in its income group and top performers. It would benefit from some improvements to its cigarette tax system.

Oman scores poorly in affordability change and tax structure, and in the mid-range in cigarette price and tax share. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, improving the tax structure, higher cigarette prices, and increasing the tax share of price.
Scores Over Time
Oman's overall score increased before it fell in 2022. The decrease in 2022 was largely due to a sharp fall in the affordability change score. There was also a decrease in the cigarette price score.
