Jamaica scores better than the average scores of countries in its region and income group, and higher than the global average, yet there is ample room for improvement relative to top performing countries.

Jamaica scores well in cigarette price but scores poorly in affordability change and tax share, and in the mid-range in tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Jamaica's overall score increased from 2014 to 2020, but it decreased in 2022 mainly due to a significant decrease in the affordability change score.
