Algeria scores poorly in affordability change and tax share, and in the mid-range in cigarette price and tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, higher cigarette prices, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Algeria's overall score increased between 2014 and 2020. There was a decrease in the score in 2022 due to a significant reduction in the affordability change score although an improvement was seen in the tax structure.
