Nigar Nargis, Ph.D.

Dr. Nigar Nargis is a Scientific Director at the American Cancer Society (ACS). Her research focuses on the economics of tobacco use and control. She served as an economist in the Department of Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases in the World Health Organization, was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, Canada with a fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Strategic Training Program on Tobacco Control, and taught in the Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1996, and Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University, USA, in 2003.
