Muhammad Asif Iqbal, Ph.D.

Dr. Muhammad Asif Iqbal is Managing Director at the Social Policy and Development Centre (SPDC). He has over 20 years of experience in research and policy analysis. The areas of his recent research include SDGs, fiscal federalism, and tobacco taxation. Earlier, he also conducted extensive research on the nonprofit sector in Pakistan. He has been a member of the Steering Committee of Centre for Research on Poverty and Income Distribution, Government of Pakistan during 2005-2006. He was also part of SPDC’s team who provided technical assistance to the Government of Eritrea in conducting the Living Standards Measurement Survey and preparing the Poverty Reduction Strategy for Eritrea during 2002-2003. He also has extensive experience in research project management.
Muhammad holds an MA in economics from Karachi University and MPA (Development) from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
