The Trend in Affordability of Tobacco Products in Bangladesh 2009–2015: Evidence from ITC Bangladesh Surveys
This study uses nationally representative individual level cohort data from the International Tobacco Control (ITC) Bangladesh Survey, conducted in four waves in 2009, 2010, 2011‐12 and 2014‐15, to measure the affordability of tobacco products in terms of Relative Income Price (RIP). The study shows that tobacco products are becoming more affordable and there is need for tobacco tax system reform as tobacco users may switch between tobacco products rather than quit.
