Guyana overall score is lower than the average score of its region, income group, and the global average. There is ample room for improvement in its cigarette tax system.

Guyana scores poorly in cigarette price, affordability change and tax share, and in the mid-range in tax structure. It would greatly benefit from higher cigarette prices, reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Guyana's overall score increased before falling slightly in 2020, and then, it remained constant in 2022. Although there was an increased in cigarette price and improvement in the tax structure, no improvement is seen in the cigarette affordability change and the tax share of price.
