The Economics of Tobacco Control – Lessons Learned from International Experiences (Presentation)

This presentation was given by Dr. Frank Chaloupka at the Building Capacity for Tobacco Research in Romania meeting in Tîrgu-Mureş, Romania, on October 20, 2014. It compares myths versus facts on the economic impact of tobacco tax increases and tobacco control policies. Dr. Chaloupka also reviews the impact of international tobacco control policies on tobacco use, revenues, the economy, and effects on the poor and illicit trade. Finally, further research needs are identified.
